Work hours:

Generally, 7am – 4:30pm. Additional hours may be necessary and determined by daily demand.

Responsibilities:

Occupational health and safety specialists analyze many types of work environments and work procedures. Specialists inspect workplaces for adherence to regulations on safety, health and the environment. They also design programs to prevent disease or injury to workers and damage to property, equipment and the environment.

Job Duties:

Identify hazards in the work place.

Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and government health and safety standards and regulations. This would include but not limited to: Federal, EPA, MSHA, OSHA, DNR, State, County and Local ordinances.

Enforce and promote workplace safety rules and company procedures.

Design and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions.

Investigate accidents and incidents to identify their causes and to determine how they might be prevented in the future.

Conduct training on a variety of safety topics and standards.

Increase worker productivity by education, reducing absenteeism and equipment downtime.

Monitor workers compensation claims and work to lower the mod rate whenever possible.

Work to lower insurance premiums by limiting exposures and lowering claims.

Develop company safety manuals and training programs

Assure compliance with applicable regulations and reduce potential costs of non-compliance.

Reduce damage to property of the company and the public.

Assist with the hiring of new employees and the training needed for new hires.

When safety rules are violated issue verbal or written notices. Provide corrective discipline as necessary.

Attend continuing educational opportunities thru seminars, trade shows and other opportunities as they are available.

Mobile Equipment Mechanic

Wingra, a local family owned construction company is looking for a Mobile Equipment Mechanic/Technician.  Full time with hourly pay and benefits.

Responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy off road mobile equipment for aggregate mining. This includes large loaders, water trucks, dozers, haul trucks, cranes and other support equipment. Diagnosis sources of trouble and determines extent of repairs required for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Must be able to schedule and perform repairs and service. Performs preventative maintenance according to the Company mobile equipment standards. Maintains equipment records according to Company procedures as well as state and federal laws and regulations. May be required to drive Company service truck and perform repairs to equipment broken down at various sites or in the plant.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum one (1) year of experience on all phases of maintenance/repair of heavy mobile equipment. Experience on diesel engines, heavy suspension, brakes, hydraulics and clutch repairs is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Mechanical ability to diagnose sources of trouble and to use various hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as grinders, presses, cranes, and jacks are required. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are required. Must be punctual and dependable, initiate and take action before being required to do so, and use time efficiently. Must be safety conscious and respond to inquiries promptly and follow through to ensure the situation is taken care of correctly. Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. Basic computer skills are required. Must have a valid Driver License with acceptable driving record. Must have personal hand tools up to 1 ½” in size.

Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic/Technician

Work hours:

Generally, 6am — 4:30pm. Additional hours may be necessary and determined by daily demand.

M-F, plus Saturday work often needed during construction season (April-November). Some night work may occur.

Winter hours generally less without need for regular Saturday work.

Responsibilities:

Maintain diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments, keeping records.

Job Duties:

Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.

Keep equipment available for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.

Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches and rear ends.

Adjust brakes, aligns wheels, tightens bolts and screws, and reassembles equipment.

Change oil, checks batteries, repairs tires and tubes, and lubricates equipment and machinery.

Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as , power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages clutches and traction units.

Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

Comply with Federal, and State vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.

Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing and painting.

Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.

Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies performing preventative maintenance; calling for repairs.

Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.

Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.

Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Personally comply with all Licensing and Driving qualification requirements.

Maintain a current valid Commercial Motor Vehicle license.

Maintain a current Federal Medical card.

Represent yourself and the Company in the best possible manner at all times.
Work in a safe and workmanlike manner at all times.

Skills and experience needed:

• Commercial Motor Vehicle License (CDL) Class B required. Construction industry experience preferred.
